The Portuguese press continues to follow the possible transfer of Chancel Mbemba from Newcastle United to Porto, which is now becoming a saga, with the clubs struggling to find an agreement.

There are two interesting stories in the local media today. One of them comes from Record, who reports the birth of the player’s daughter.

They claim that even though some outlets have been pointing this as a reason for the delay, it’s not true, as the transfer hasn’t happened yet because of the lack of agreement between the clubs.

Another newspaper writing about the situation today is A Bola, claiming that Mbemba has already signed a four-year pre-contract agreement with Porto, and now waits for the deal to be completed by the clubs.

A Bola says that in England no one doubts that the deal is being done. They just don’t make it clear if by ‘England’, they mean the local press or local sources.

Porto are said to be offering €7m, while Newcastle demand €9m. That’s why the outlet says that the deal is probably being closed for €8m.
