Earlier on Friday, we covered a report claiming that Atlético Madrid had made a move to try and sign Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham.
This deal, however, appears to be intrinsically tied to Nottingham Forest attempts to get Renan Lodi from the La Liga side, as Steve Cooper continues his search for a new left-back.
This is what TuttoMercatoWeb are reporting on Friday, explaining that the Tottenham player is ‘further away’ from Lazio, who were also interested in his services.
It’s made clear Reguilon would ‘more than willingly’ return to Spain, with the solution coming from the Premier League via Nottingham Forest.
Despite himself turning down a move to the City Ground, the Spaniard could be helped by the Tricky Trees, who are after Atlético Madrid’s Lodi.
The Brazilian’s departure would free up room in the La Liga side’s squad, and ‘negotiations are underway’ between Diego Simeone’s side, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest.
As things stand, Reguilon’s future ‘seems closer to Spain than to Italy’, providing that Atlético ‘manage to get Renan Lodi out’.
That’s now up to Nottingham Forest, but this is turning out to be quite the transfer triangle.
