Earlier today we covered claims from Gazzetta dello Sport that West Ham made an offer for Gabigol on Tuesday.
That offer was for a loan with the right of redemption and was always likely to be rejected by Inter Milan, at least at this stage of the window.
It was a change in stance for Gazzetta, who had reported on Monday that claims of approaches from the Hammers and Chelsea simply weren’t true, and that Flamengo was the only road open to the striker right now.
Corriere dello Sport have their own slant and state Gabigol has ‘significantly lowered his demands’ on wages, which would make it much easier for Flamengo to sign him.
This is seen as beginning to remove the salary obstacle and it’s thought that once that’s done a deal shouldn’t be difficult to agree with Inter.
A fee of €18m, plus 20% of a future transfer fee, had earlier been agreed, and now the Serie A club are looking for a little more, but they may relent and just go for the original price.
Corriere dello Sport’s report would be negative for West Ham, indeed they don’t even get a mention.
Once Inter Milan have sold Gabigol, they can then move more concretely for Arturo Vidal, who Antonio Conte has prioritised over Christian Eriksen.
