It appears that Moussa Niakhaté has spent most of Wednesday on a plane as he closed in on his transfer to Nottingham Forest.
The newly-promoted side appear to have made the 1.FSV Mainz 05 defender their main target to bolster their backline, and a deal is around the corner.
It was reported on Wednesday morning that the player was on his way to Nottingham to sign his contract, which was expected to be signed this afternoon.
Well, if SportBild are to be believed, that is now done, as they claim he ‘has signed’ with Forest ‘and is travelling straight to the English team’s training camp in Alicante’.
The deal is reportedly of €15m, with Nottingham Forest paying €10m up front and another €5m ‘will be awarded later in the form of bonuses’.
That’s a big purchase for the Premier League club, who are doing everything they can to give Steve Cooper the players he needs to fight against relegation.
As for the official announcement, we can only guess it will come either this evening or Thursday.
