On Monday we covered claims from Kicker that Leonardo Bittencourt could be on the verge of leaving FC Koln and signing for Tottenham.
It wasn’t the first time the German magazine had claimed interest from Spurs in the player, doing so earlier in April as well. AS Monaco has been stated as an alternative destination both times, and an exit from relegated Koln presented as likely.
Koln’s general manager Armin Veh was quoted by Kicker as saying: “He will probably leave us because he has offers, and we have to live with that.”
The German newspaper back up the idea of a move, and interest from Tottenham and Monaco, but state there’s offers from both the clubs.
Crucially, Bild report an exit clause for Bittencourt, which would see the attacker leave for just €8m. That’s very much seen as a bargain in Germany, and the clause is due to Koln’s relegation from Bundesliga.
To take advantage of the €8m reduced fee, Tottenham have to complete a deal before the end of May. So if the Bittencourt transfer is happening, it’ll almost certainly be this month.
