Stade Rennais defender Adrien Truffert remains ‘in the sights’ at Aston Villa after they made a €15m offer for him last year.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who say the 22-year-old is on the list at Aston Villa as they plan a summer of building for Unai Emery.
The newspaper explains that after four seasons with the French side, Truffert could be set for a move away this summer.
He’s entering the final two years of his current contract and that means this summer is the ideal point to either renew his deal or sell him, as they’d have to sell for a reduced fee next year when he’d be in the final year of it.
Rennes have already rejected approaches in previous transfer windows, with Aston Villa making a ‘significant offer’ in the January transfer window in 2023 worth €20m. L’Equipe previously said this offer was worth €15m, yet today they say €20m so it appears someone is trying to hype things.
He remains ‘in the sights’ for the Villans, though, while Leicester, Fulham and Bournemouth are also credited with having an interest in the Premier League.
Indeed, there is a big list of suitors for him, with Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Lyon, Monaco and Benfica all credited with an interest too.
That’s a big list and very much feels like an agent hyping up their client ahead of the summer transfer window fully getting started.
Aston Villa already have two left-backs on their books and appear to be set to add Samuel Illing-Junior from Juventus too, so have no need in that position at this moment in time.
Of course, there’s plenty of time for that to change but this link seems built on their previous bid and nothing more at this point.
