New reports from the Brazilian media say Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho could be back in his home country at the end of the season.
The latest claims come from journalist Jorge Nicola, who on a video on his Youtube channel at the weekend, brought some updates on the player’s future.
It’s said that Fernandinho is one of the midfield options that Brazilian side Atlético Mineiro are considering to sign this year.
Nicola points out that the player’s contract with Manchester City expires at the end of the season, and claims his deal ‘shouldn’t be renewed’. That’s why he’s considering a return to the South American country.
The journalist says Atletico Mineiro would be an ‘interesting option’ due to the strong team they’re building, but also highlights that the story is still in the ‘initial stages’.
Fernandinho’s future indeed remains a mystery, as the player refuses to say if he’d stay at Manchester City or not. Recently speaking to the Brazilian media, his agent claimed that in case of his return to the country, the player is actually more likely to sign for his former club Athletico Paranaense.
