When it was announced that Manchester United would be sending €25m up front for Amad Diallo Traoré with a potential extra €15m in bonuses, it was clear this was a move the Old Trafford club had in the pipeline for some time.

No team, regardless of who has responsibility of the chequebook, would agree to spend that much money on a player unless they firmly believed he has the potential to become something special, and so a deal was struck with Atalanta.

The 18-year-old will only be joining the Red Devils in January due to work permit and passport issues, and while there is plenty of time to get things sorted between now and then, it’s been decided the medical should take place sooner rather than later.

That’s what TuttoMercatoWeb reported on Wednesday, explaining the youngster will undergo his medical for Manchester United today (Thursday) in Bergamo.

Once that’s done and he’s cleared the checklist, Amad Diallo Traoré ‘will be able to start organising his transfer to England’ ahead of his inclusion in the squad once the January registration period opens.

It’s also explained Atalanta will receive 15% of any future resale of the Ivorian, meaning they could get even more money out of this down the line.
