Clermont Foot left-back Neto Borges is set to complete a move to Middlesbrough ‘in the next few hours’.
That’s according to journalist Marc Mechenoua, who reports that Middlesbrough are close to sealing their latest signing.
Michael Carrick’s side have been busy strengthening this summer with several new signings, spending €15.88m on the likes of Tommy Conway, Micah Hamilton, Aidan Morris, Delano Burgzorg and Luke Ayling.
It appears that is not the end of their business, though, as Mechenoua reports that they are close to sealing the deal for Borges.
According to his information, the left-back will complete his move to Middlesbrough in the coming hours.
He’ll arrive to bolster Middlesbrough’s options in the position and provide competition to Lukas Engel and Alex Bangura.
There’s no mention of the nature of the deal, so it’s unclear if he’ll be arriving on loan or permanently, and if it is the latter, for what price. A deal is just close to being done.
It will be the latest step in what’s been a varied career for him, which has already seen him play in Brazil, Sweden, Belgium, Portugal and France.
