Early on Saturday morning we covered claims from Portugal that Ederson is almost certainly on his to Manchester City. Talks between Benfica and the Premier League club are said to have been going on for some time, and Ederson has been lined up to be Pep Guardiola’s next signing.
Looking at the Portuguese press as a whole, it appears they were all fed similar stories late on Friday night, or early on Saturday morning. A Bola’s take is that Ederson will say goodbye to Benfica fans at the cup final on Sunday, before his transfer.
The 23 year old is said to be ‘very close’ to moving to Manchester City, and negotiations are ‘advanced’ in a transfer which ‘won’t cost less than €40m’, with Benfica said to be receiving half the total, less than they’d wanted.
Ederson’s former club Rio Ave is due 50%, and of that half cut, Gestifute, the agency owned by Jorge Mendes, is due 20%.
A Bola say Mendes took advantage of Bernardo Silva negotiations to push the Ederson transfer along.
