As soon as it was reported in Spain that Isco would be leaving Sevilla, Wolverhampton Wanderers showed up as one of the contenders for his signing.
With Wolves taking Julen Lopetegui from the La Liga side, it was soon claimed the midfielder would fancy a move to Molineux and continue working with the manager.
But there are obviously many other clubs who are interested in signing Isco, and that’s today highlighted by Italian outlet Calcio Mercato.
It’s pointed out Roma have tried to land the midfielder ‘for a long time’ and continue to be keen on him, as well as Fiorentina, who ‘made a timid poll’. And despite being ‘in the front row’ to sign him for a while, the likes of Juventus and AC Milan are now unlikely to fight hard for his arrival.
Now what is interesting in Calcio Mercato’s story is that they say Wolves’ interest could impact on the chances that all these clubs have of signing Isco.
It’s said that with the Premier League side ‘by the door’, the 30-year-old should ask ‘for much higher figures’ than what he used to make per season at Sevilla.
That could be good or bad news for Wolves, as despite the player’s big request, that could also be a reason for other clubs to give up on fighting for him.
