Friday saw the big news from Portugal that Manchester City would be signing Ruben Dias. From the start it was presented as a sure thing, and that Pep Guardiola had got the defensive addition he so badly wanted.

Initial claims insisted Dias would still play against Moreirense on Saturday evening. He did so, captaining Benfica and scoring in a 2-0 victory for the Lisbon club.

Afterwards, he became emotional when speaking about his situation, and made it clear the transfer was close to completion. Dias had originally been expected to travel to England on Sunday, and whilst that could still be the case, Record say there’s a possibility it may be tomorrow.

The defender is going through his medical checks in Portugal before travelling, so it depends how long those tests take.

Nicolas Otamendi is going the other way as part of the deal, with that helping bring the cost down a little for Manchester City. The Argentine defender is expected to travel to Lisbon on Monday.
