Marc Roca is looking likely to be sent back to Leeds United this summer, even if he and Real Betis want his loan deal to be made permanent.
That’s according to Diario de Sevilla, who say the midfielder ‘will return to Leeds United’ in the summer, but that is more of a negotiating tactic than anything else.
The newspaper explains that the recent performances of Johnny Cardoso have led to something of a calm attitude being adopted by Betis when it comes to the futures of Guido Rodriguez and Marc Roca.
The latter has been on loan from Leeds since the summer and is determined to stay at the club, while the Spanish side are keen to keep him too, albeit on their terms.
Part of that tactic will see him return to Leeds in the summer ‘without knowing’ what will happen to him. This, though, is seemingly just a negotiating strategy from Betis.
His return to Elland Road does not mean he will necessarily not be moving to Spain permanently but is instead part of the ‘chess game’ being played by those in charge at Betis.
It seems they want to make Leeds feel a little uncomfortable so they can negotiate the best economic situation for themselves and potentially drive his price tag down.
That happening will likely be dependent on Leeds and whether they end up back in the Premier League, with that set to determine their stance to the summer transfer window too.
