On Saturday morning, we covered reports from Paraguay which explained Diego León was set to fly to England yesterday to finalise his transfer to Manchester United.

The 17-year-old left is owned by Cerro Porteño and had been indentified by Manchester United’s scouting system some months ago. The gist was the youngster was flying to England so he could have a medical with the Red Devils, visit their facilities and then see the agreement to sign him announced.

After that, he’ll return to being a Cerro Porteño player again because León is unable to register for Manchester United until he turns 18-year-of-age in April.

As León left Silvio Pettirossi international airport on Saturday, Versus Paraguay report he was approached by an old lady who was a stranger to him. That old lady blessed the youngter and wished him good luck with his endeavours in Europe, in what was clearly a very touching moment for the footballer.

ABC Paraguay report he’s due back on Wednesday and will immediately join up with the country’s U20 squad for the South American Championship in Venezuela.
