Joan Gonzàlez’s development at Leece has not gone unnoticed and caught the attention of Tottenham Hotspur.
On January 10th, we carried a report from Calciomercato, who explained that Spurs have sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old in action for the Serie A side, where it was also stated they follow him closely.
Fast forward to February and Gazzetta dello Sport have a report that echoes the sentiment that Tottenham are keeping tabs on the player.
Gonzàlez spent two years at Barcelona’s youth system before joining Leece in 2021. He was initially included in the Italian club’s academy and then was promoted to their first team at the start of this season.
The midfielder has scored one goal and registered three assists from 22 league games.
Gazzetta state Milan are also interested in the Spaniard while scouts from a few English have also been spotted at Stadio Via del Mare, Leece’s home stadium, but only Tottenham are mentioned in the report.
Gonzàlez, who has signed a new deal until 2027, is ‘worth around €8m’, but it’s explained he could stay another year, just to boost his value up that little bit more.
Therefore, Tottenham, Milan or another club would have to be rather convincing if they want to try to sign him in the summer.
