Galatasaray’s new signing Sofiane Feghouli has spoken to the Turkish media following his transfer from West Ham United.

The 27 year old joined Galatasaray after just one season with West Ham, and the Algeria international has revealed Slaven Bilic advised him on his move to Turkey.

Milliyet have reported on comments Feghouli made about his ambitions with Galatasaray: “First of all I want to thank our president Dursun Ozbek for his efforts to sign me for Galatasaray. I’m very happy to join this club and looking forward to bringing success to the fans.”

The Algerian was also asked whether Bilic, who manager Besiktas before moving to West Ham, had any influence over his decision to join Galatasaray: “To be honest we didn’t talk about football. He loves Turkey very much and said that the Turkish people are friendly, and that they will quickly accept me.”

Galatasaray have signed Feghouli from West Ham for a reported €4.5m, after weeks of talks between the two clubs. The transfer was initially delayed due to a disagreement between the player and West Ham over a signing on fee.

The attacker will earn around €3.8m a season with the Turkish giants, and he’s been given the No.89 jersey. Feghouli is now in line to make his debut this weekend when Galatasaray take on Osmanlıspor.
