After a long saga, Manolo Gabbiadini finally completed his return to Sampdoria. Southampton agreed the player’s sale for €12m in early January, and finished the rumours which had been following the player for months.

The striker is still to start for the Serie A side this year, but already made three appearances, getting one goal and an assist, which is more than what he did in the first part of the season with the Saints.

Now in a marketing event to meet the fans, Gabbiadini has spoken to Tutto Mercato Web, and has talked about how good it is to return to his old club.

“It’s as if I had never gone, it’s all the same. I missed Italy yes, but I can’t say I was bad in England,” Gabbiadini told Tutto Mercato Web.

Regarding all the rumours of a comeback, Gabbaidini claims this was the first real chance to make the move: “There has never been a real chance until this winter, I caught the flight.”

Signed by Southampton from Napoli on a €15m deal in 2015, Gabbiadini made 60 appearances for the Saint Mary’s side. He scored 12 goals in his two-year spell at the club.
