When Chelsea forward Lucas Piazon completed his loan move to Chievo Verona last week, we covered a story from Italy which questioned if he regrets the decisions he’s made in the past.
Website Il Posticipo recalled that the player rejected the chance to join Juventus when moving to Europe in 2011. The outlet said he only chose Chelsea ‘for money’, and after several loans and no real chance to prove himself for the Blues, he’s moving to Italy to join a club which can’t be compared to Juve.
Now Piazon has given a press conference, and was asked about this episode. He has confirmed the decision to join Chelsea instead of the Old Lady, but says he doesn’t regret it.
“It’s true, at 17 they wanted me as well as Chelsea, but I chose the Premier League. In England I found myself in front of so many strong players and this made me realise that I had to work harder,” said Piazon (via Calcio Mercato).
“I have no regrets, I can’t say what player I would be today if I had taken a different path in the past. As boy I followed the Italian league a lot and I imagined being in their place one day. I dreamed of being like Ronaldo.”
Piazon joined Chelsea in January 2012 and only made three appearances for the Blues. He’s been loaned to Malaga, Vitesse, Eintracht Frankfurt, Reading, Fulham, and finally Chievo.
