Danish newspaper Ekstrabladet today features an interview with Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen.
The 31-year-old now has a national teammate at Old Trafford, as Rasmus Højlund joined the Red Devils in a move from Atalanta during the last window.
Eriksen was asked about Manchester United’s new arrival, with Ekstrabladet pointing out the striker has been doing well in his first few weeks.
The midfielder then praised his new teammate, saying the Red Devils did the right thing when securing Højlund’s signing from the Serie A side.
“I think Rasmus has been a wise purchase. He’s a guy who fits in with the squad, fits in with the style of play, understands the coach’s ideas, and he’s a good guy who works hard,” said Eriksen.
Eriksen was also asked about Manchester United’s difficult start to the season and the little time he’s been getting on the pitch. The player made it clear it’s all about Erik ten Hag’s choices this season, claiming he’s completely fit to be in the team when needed.
“I think you should ask the coach what he thinks. We’ve been hit hard by injuries in defence. We’ve simply conceded too many goals.
“I was sick last week, but I feel fine. I don’t have any injuries. My body feels good and of course I want to play every game.
“But if you’ve seen the games yourself, you might also realise that (Ten Hag) plays with a different type of player than me.”
Eriksen has 507 minutes in nine appearances for Manchester United this season, so even though he isn’t a regular starter, he’s far from being a forgotten piece in the team either. So there may be a little exaggeration about that question, even though he doesn’t seem entirely content with his opportunities.
