Back in March, we covered a couple of stories linking Leeds United to Boca Juniors midfielder Nahitan Nandez.
Even though that’s an English club following an Uruguayan player from an Argentine side, the news was actually brought by the Italian press, with Calcio Mercato reporting the interest.
When the rumour got to South America, it became even bigger, as Nandez’s agent Pablo Betancur fed the story by saying he has a good relationship with the Elland Road side.
“I have a relationship with the Leeds president and the general director. It would be a pleasure for Nandez to be under Bielsa’s orders,” Betancur said.
But Nandez was quick replying that a move out of Boca Juniors is not very close to happening, whether to Leeds or anywhere else. The player himself has published a video (via Sport) where he claims that he’s not that keen on leaving the Argentine side right now.
“There were comments saying I want to leave, but the reality is that it’s not like that. If something interesting comes up, the people who have to do it will talk about it.”
Last month, it’s been said that Cagliari and Newcastle are in the race for the player as well, so Leeds should have some competition to get the player in the summer.
