Marco Silvestri has told the Italian media he’s “very happy” about his move from Leeds United to Hellas Verona. The 26-year-old has returned to Serie A after three seasons playing in England.
Hellas 1903 have reported on comments made by Silvestri when he was asked about his thoughts about joining Verona from Leeds United: “I’m very happy. Now I want to get to know my teammates and manager.”
Last night Verona confirmed on their website Silvestri had signed a four year deal with the club after passing his medical. The Italian side are now back in Serie A after a one season absence, and are looking to consolidate their place in the top flight.
With Leeds Untied signing Felix Wiedwald from Werder Bremen earlier in the transfer window, it seemed likely Silvestri would become surplus to requirements with the Championship side.
The former Cagliari goalkeeper had to be content with being back up to Rob Green last season, with most of his games under Garry Monk coming in the cup competitions.
