Aston Villa goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini has thanked the Championship club for allowing him to join Atalanta until the end of the season. Gollini only joined Aston Villa in the summer from Hellas Chievo, but has already packed his bags.
TMW have reported on comments the Aston Villa loanee made to Sky Italia after returning to his home country. Gollini said he was overjoyed signing for the Serie A club, but appreciated Aston Villa allowed him to go back to Italy.
The 21-year-old went on to say he know hopes to make a name for himself at Atalanta like the recently departed Marco Sportiello did during his time at the Italian club.
“I am very happy, I am happy and I thank Aston Villa. I also thank all at Atalanta, I can’t wait to get started. Sportiello has done very well, he is a complete keeper and I hope to do just as well,” said the Aston Villa youngster.
On Friday it was announced Gollini would be joining Atalanta on loan after Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce confirmed the transfer in his press conference. The young keeper started the season as Aston Villa’s No.1, but has recently lost his place in the team.
