Nottingham Forest winger Jota Silva has insisted he wants to make history with the club and get into the Champions League.
A Bola cover an interview with the winger today from an appearance on YouTube channel Entrelinhas with Afonso Figueiredo.
Silva has been with Nottingham Forest since August after joining in a €7m deal from Vitória Guimarães.
He’s found himself playing a substitutes role at best so far, featuring in just 32% of the available minutes in the Premier League for Nottingham Forest so far.
That’s largely been due to the success of his competitors, with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga shining this season and proving to be a key part as Nottingham Forest have pushed to third in the Premier League after 24 games.
Jota is happy, though, and admits he wants to stay, fight for his place and make history with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
“I really want to make history at Nottingham Forest,” he said.
“I want to play UEFA Champions League regularly. I want to be called up to the national team. I want to win the Premier League. I want people to see that I’m ready to take on new flights… and make my family proud.”
Another focus for the Nottingham Forest winger is returning to the Portuguese national team and adding to his two caps to date.
He managed to break into the set up under previous manager Roberto Martinez, getting called up to the squad for the international break in March.
He made his debut with a 27-minute appearances against Sweden and added another with a one-minute appearance against Slovenia five days later.
He hasn’t been in the squad since but that remains a major achievement for the Nottingham Forest man, nonetheless.
“I didn’t even know how to react. I just came to my senses at home,” he added.
“I cried a little more, there at the club it was very emotional and at the game… the stadium was shouting my name. I almost scored; it was the icing on the cake. It was the highest moment of his career. It’s a day I’ll never forget.
“I went from playing in the district to sharing the dressing room with Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Pepe, João Félix, therefore, with the best in the world.”
