Legia Warszawa defender Lindsay Rose has revealed he could have once joined Crystal Palace, only for injury to scupper his prospects.
The 30-year-old centre-back has been playing in Poland since July 2021, when he joined Legia Warszawa in a €600,000 deal from Aris Saloniki.
It was the latest step in a varied career that started in France with Stade Lavallois and saw him turn out for the likes of FC Lorient, Olympique Lyon and SC Bastia over a seven-year spell in France.
He moved to Greece on loan with Saloniki in January 2019 and made the move a permanent one for €170,000 the following summer, going on to spend two years with the Greek side and making 96 appearances in all competitions.
His journey is yet to see him move to England and that looks unlikely to happen given he is now 30 years old and seemingly moving downwards on the footballing ladder.
However, a move to England could have once happened, with the player revealing he once had interest from Crystal Palace.
“I’ve never had any revenge against Rennes. It remains my favourite club. On the other hand, I was proud to score against them, like when I was little,” he told Stade Rennais Online in a discussion about his career.
“On the other hand, the following season, I went to play at the Route de Lorient stadium, with Valenciennes. I had taken 40 seats, for my whole family. And I got injured in the 43rd minute, at home, in Rennes.
“I’d brought the whole neighbourhood along and I got banged up. It was horrible. What’s more, it was at a time when I had quite a few European clubs looking at me, including Crystal Palace, who had made an offer in August.
“I had an agreement with the club to leave in January. I got my braces in October. A few days before, I had scored with the French U-21 team, I was fine. That’s football.”
