After running out of contract with West Bromwich Albion, midfielder Claudio Yacob could be returning to South America.
The Argentine player, who’s now a free agent, has become a target for Brazilian side Santos, according to outlet Lance today.
The report claims that Santos director Ricardo Gomes is interested in the player’s situation and should contact him to open negotiations in the next few days.
Even though Yacob had 16 Premier League appearances for West Brom last season, Lance doesn’t mention any potential competition from Europe to sign the player.
Back in April, reports from the English press claimed that West Brom would negotiate a new deal for Yacob. But that hasn’t happened, or at least not yet.
Signed from Argentine side Racing in 2012, Yacob has made 175 appearances for the Baggies. He’s found it hard to have starts during the last season, and with the relegation to the Championship, the 30-year-old ended up parting ways with the club.
