In 2016, Piotr Zieliński was close to joining Liverpool, but Napoli were successful in beating the Reds to sign the midfielder from Udinese.
However, that hasn’t stopped the Merseyside club being linked with a move for the Poland international.
Jurgen Klopp’s side faced the Italian outfit in the group stage of the Champions League fixture and the 24-year-old’s agent was spotted with Liverpool’s officials last October, which led to speculation linking Zieliński with a move to Anfield.
The player has spoken to the Polish media on various topics, including his future and his comments were relayed in Italy by Tutto Mercato Web.
One of the questions asked was if it’s true the former Borussia Dortmund manager wanted him at Liverpool. He said: “I’ve never talked to him, I have nothing to say.”
“I repeat, I’m very good at Naploli, I work with [Carlo] Ancelotti, who is among the best and makes me learn a lot, and then we’ll see what happens.”
Zieliński’s contract with the Serie A outfit will run down in 2021 and he’s revealed that his representatives are negotiating with Napoli to extend the contract.
“My agents are working on the renewal of the contract, but I think only of the camp,” he said.
“There was a period in which I often thought about my future and this was reflected on the pitch and in the head. I’m fine in Naples, I have two more years of contract and I’d like to win with this club, write the story, especially for our fans who are special.”
With talks of contract renewal, the reports linking Zieliński to Liverpool will slowly disappear.
