Record’s front page story today reports Sporting’s deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the transfer of Rui Patrício.

According to the newspaper, the Lions’ president Frederico Varandas is finding an agreement in London on Tuesday so the Portuguese side will make €18m with the goalkeeper’s transfer to Wolves.

As we’ve covered earlier today, an important piece in this puzzle was the agent Jorge Mendes, who used his good relationship with both clubs so the two of them would be happy to end this saga with a good deal.

Now there’s another interesting detail in this story, which is Rui Patrício’s wish. Even though he’s pretty much settled at Wolverhampton with a four-year contract, he also had some influence on this new agreement.

Record claims that Patrício acknowledges everything Sporting have made for him, and has made a ‘bridge’ between the clubs for a new deal, especially after Frederico Varandas took charge of the Portuguese club.

It’s said that the goalkeeper has relinquished an amount when signing for Wolves as a free agent, and that action was pretty important so the English side would accept to pay Sporting in this new deal.
