Denzel Dumfries has made it clear he wants to leave PSV Eindhoven and Everton have been named as one of the suitors for most of the summer window.

The Toffees are not the only club interested in the right-back as they face competition from Inter Milan.

Reports from Italy suggested the Merseyside club must work fast if they want to beat the Serie A winners to the 25-year-old.

Calciomercato.it say the Nerazzurri ‘accelerated immediately’ [from Sunday] after working on Romelu Lukaku’s sale to Chelsea.

Inter will earn €115m from the striker’s impending exit and will use a small part of the fee to land the Netherlands international. Dumfries has been the favourite target for both the Italian champions and their manager, Simone Inzaghi.

According to the report, Inter are ‘now very close’ to securing the Dutchman’s services, who ‘said no to’ Rafael Benítez’s side.

The fullback ‘rejected Everton’ as he only wants Inter and his move to the San Siro can be closed after Inzaghi’s side sell Lukaku to Chelsea.

Mino Raiola, the defender’s agent, played a role in helping Inter seal the deal and ‘unless there are surprises’, Dumfries’ move to Milan ‘will be completed for €15-16m’.
