At the beginning of July there were repeat claims from Italy that Manuel Locatelli had turned Arsenal down.
The Gunners were said to have made a move for the Euro 2020 star, and were ready to pay a fee Sassuolo would find acceptable. With the Italian club hoping for €40m, Arsenal were said to be willing to part with that.
However, Locatelli wasn’t keen and rejected the chance to move to the Premier League club. There were then claims that he was ignoring the efforts coming from London, unwilling to change his mind.
The 23-year-old was determined to join Juventus, and if he couldn’t do that then he’d have stayed at Sassuolo and waited for the chance of the Turin club to come again next summer.
Calciomercato report Locatelli has given up €10m over the course of a contract to sign for Juventus instead of Arsenal.
They say the player will be earning €3.5m a year, after tax, at the Bianconeri, and he would have got €5.5m, again after tax, had he moved to Mikel Arteta’s side.
