Marseille have already lost Michy Batshuayi, Steve Mandanda, Benjamin Mendy, and Nicolas N’Koulou this summer, and it seems another key player is heading for the exit door.
There were suggestions Georges-Kevin Nkoudou could stay at the Ligue 1 club beyond summer, but he could now be close to switching to the Premier League.
According to L’Equipe on Sunday, Tottenham are close to completing a €13m deal for Nkoudou.
Sevilla and Hamburg were also interested in signing the young Frenchman, but it appears a phone call from Mauricio Pochettino was enough to convince the player.
It is reported Pochettino assured Nkoudou he’d make him a key player at the club in a short period of time.
Nkoudou was also tempted by the prospect of playing in the Premier League and Champions League.
L’Equipe say discussions started over a week ago, and the 21-year-old is hopeful of signing a four or five year contract with the North London club in the coming days.
Nkoudou had 10 goals and 5 assists to his name last season, after signing for Marseille in a €1.5m deal.
