Unfortunately for Emerson Palmieri, the Chelsea adventure hasn’t gone to plan.
The left-back has never really managed to make a name for himself at Stamford Bridge under the multitude of managers who have sat in the dugout of the London club, and every year sees the Italy international linked with a return to Serie A.
Nothing ever happens, of course, but with a contract expiring in 2022, there’s a real feeling this summer could be the right one.
The usual suspects are lurking, with both Juventus and Inter said to be keen on the defender.
However, it’s the former of the two who have the more appetising offer to make, as Corriere Torino explain Palmieri’s name is ‘very topical’ these days over in Turin, thanks to Alex Sandro.
It’s explained the Juventus defender could be included in an ‘exchange with Emerson plus some money’, and the Brazilian is ‘ready to undertake the reverse journey to embrace Thomas Tuchel, who already wanted him at Paris Saint-Germain’.
In fact, it’s said ‘the idea is liked by everybody’.
That’s a big bonus, and it would be interesting to see a battle for a first-team spot between Marcos Alonso, Ben Chilwell and Alex Sandro next season should this take place.
