As you all know by now, Bernard is a target for Paulo Fonseca at AS Roma.
The Portuguese manager, who has already managed the Brazilian during their time together at Shakhtar Donetsk, wants an attacking reinforcement down the wing, and there are two options at his disposal.
Bernard is obviously one of them, but he’s the more expensive of the pair when compared to El Shaarawy.
However, there is something going in Fonseca’s favour, and that is the fact the winger ‘is ready to leave Everton’.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport on Tuesday, who explain the Roma manager would ‘happily return to work’ with the Brazil international, and who could be helped by the fact Carlo Ancelotti wants Robin Olsen to stay at Goodison Park permanently.
Bernard’s agent has already explained a deal involving the two players could be on the cards, but, for now, it’s El Shaarawy who is ‘in pole position’w, having already played in Serie A for AS Roma before.
If that fails, then it’ll be down to those in charge of transfers in the Italian capital to find a way to appease Fonseca with the acquisition of the Everton man.
