West Ham have been repeatedly linked with strikers in recent days, but it looks like another London club will now beat them to signing a player in the position.
Bild report that Mainz’s Jean-Philippe Mateta is on a private jet travelling to England, and then he’s expected to have a medical with Crystal Palace.
According to the German newspaper, all three parties involved in the transfer have already agreed on the terms, which would explain why Mateta is jetting towards the UK right now.
The deal will be on the basis of a loan until summer 2022, so the rest of this season and the whole of the next one. Crystal Palace will then have an option to buy the 23-year-old, with Bild putting the figure for that at €14-17m.
