On December 28th, RMC Sport reported Manchester United have made an offer for Nuno Mendes, who has rejected a renewal offer proposed by Paris Saint-Germain.
Record then stated the left-back has decided to leave the Ligue 1 winners after a call with Ruben Amorim.
Foot Mercato now claim the 22-year-old is keen on making a switch to Manchester United.
The Portugal international’s deal lasts until 2026 and he isn’t satisfied by the salary offered by PSG. His contract situation doesn’t worry Luis Enrique’s side as they believe it is part of Mendes’ negotiations tactics.
The defender, for his part, is ‘very interested’ in joining Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford. He previously played under the manager at Sporting and sees it as an ‘excellent prospect’ to reunite with his compatriot at Manchester United.
They add there’s ‘no chance’ of the player leaving the Paris club in the winter market, but the situation could be different in the summer, when he’ll have a year left on his contract.
It’s claimed an ‘offensive will be launched’ by Manchester United in the summer while PSG will try to convince Mendes to sign an extension.
Foot Mercato’s summary states the ‘negotiations are in full swing for an extension’ and it’s possible Mendes and his camp could be using Manchester United to secure a better deal from PSG.
