We’ve got to the point that William Carvalho’s saga doesn’t need an introduction.

The negotiations between Sporting and West Ham have now became public, although they seem far from an end.

Portuguese newspaper Record this weekend claim the gap between what West Ham are offering and what Sporting are asking for is still big.

West Ham’s last bid was €32m, and Sporting want €38m plus €5m in bonuses. The London side would have to sell some of their players to get to that amount.

The outlet claims negotiations should advance after Sporting’s Champions League game against Steaua Bucharest, which will be played on Wednesday.

That had already been said before the first leg, and nothing happened that time.

Newspaper O Jogo also brings some updates, and claims that the player has been putting pressure on Sporting directors for the transfer to happen. Manager Jorge Jesus is using Carvalho as a fullback in training, as a clear sign he doesn’t expect him to be in the squad for the rest of the season.

But William Carvalho has been missing training in the past few days due to a leg injury. Most of the fans don’t believe the reason, and Sporting had to release an official statement signed by a doctor to show the player is really unable to work.

West Ham may be encouraged to speed up negotiations after their poor start to the Premier League.
