Ola John is now on his fourth loan move away from Benfica, leaving Wolves for Deportivo La Coruna.
The 24 year old signed for Benfica in 2012 and things didn’t work out well enough there so he want to Hamburg, which was a disastrous loan, had a better time at Reading, before another poor loan at Wolves.
Wolves won’t be too sorry to see the back of Ola John, but from the player’s perspective he really need to get his career back on track now.
Once a highly rated youngster, Ola John is surely running out of chances, and with only one year left on his Benfica contract after the current season the future isn’t as guaranteed as it once seemed.
Ola John managed 27 Championship minutes for Wolves, through the Saul combination of niggling fitness issues and manager preference. Brought in with the Jorge Mendes inspired recruitment, the winger was unable to convince either Walter Zenga or Paul Lambert.
Now he’s passed his medical for Depor, he wants to avoid comparisons with Ryan Babel. The former Liverpool player joined Depor as a free agent last year and impressed enough that when his short term contract ended he got a more lucrative deal with Besiktas.
