Enzo Jérémy Le Fée is on the verge of becoming a Sunderland player after an ambitious transfer assault encouraged by the Championship club’s manager.
Régis Le Bris worked with the midfielder at Lorient and that’s arguably where and when the now 24-year-old played his best football.
That form for Lorient and the promise of better to come as Le Fée grew and progressed encouraged Rennes to sign the player before he then moved to AS Roma in July of last year for €23m.
Le Fée’s time in Italy hasn’t worked out and that presented an opportunity for Le Bris to recruit him for Sunderland’s promotion charge.
Earlier today we covered claims from Italy which stated a deal had been agreed between Sunderland and Roma which would see Le Fée move on loan for the rest of the season with a purchase clause.
That clause, thought to be the €23m Roma initially paid, becomes compulsory if Sunderland are promoted. It’s a deal which can work for everyone.
Siamo La Roma report Le Fée is on his way, quite literally. He’s been pictured set to depart Ciampino airport and will travel to England this afternoon.
