Antonio Rudiger’s contract situation ‘paves the way’ for Chelsea to make another bid for Jules Koundé in January.
That’s according to Sevilla’s specialists La Colina de Nervion, who say that the Frenchman remains the number one target to replace Rudiger.
They explain that the Blues have not closed the door on Koundé after spending a chunk of the summer trying to secure his signature.
That is because Rudiger’s future is currently in doubt, with his contract expiring next summer and no sign of a renewal at this point in time.
That’s not an ideal situation for Chelsea, and if Rudiger doesn’t agree a new contract soon, they will be forced to put him up for sale in January in order to avoid losing him on a free.
His departure would leave a hole, though, so Koundé would be ‘back in the orbit’ to come in and replace him.
They’ve ‘not forgotten’ about him after their summer efforts, and the January transfer window could end up forcing Chelsea to revive them should Rudiger leave.
