SPAL forward Mirco Antenucci believes he made the right choice joining Seire B side after being released by Leeds United last year. SPAL yesterday achieved promotion to Serie A for the first time in their history, and this gives the former Leeds United forward a chance to showcase his talent in the Italian top flight.
TMW have reported on comments Antenucci made to Sky Italia in the aftermath of SPAL’s promotion from Serie B.
The 31-year-old said he now feels he can prove he made the right decision to sign for the club, despite the interest from other Serie B sides and even Championship clubs. Antenucci now believes he is a stable environment after his turbulent spell with Leeds United.
“When I chose SPAL I had positive feelings that have proved spot on, a group with a community feeling and a calm life after two years in England,” said the former Leeds United player.
Despite being Leeds United’s top scorer in his first season, Antenucci was released by the club last May after two years in England. Since leaving Leeds United the Italian has been critical of the way Massimo Cellino ran the Championship side during his time at Elland Road.
