Dominik Szoboszlai is ‘very open’ to leaving RB Leipzig this summer as he’s aware of ‘concrete interest’ from Newcastle United.

That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says the midfielder is a ‘top transfer target’ for Newcastle this summer.

The Magpies are expected to be busy this summer improving Eddie Howe’s squad for a season back in the Champions League after a superb season.

Several big signings are expected thanks to the backing from their Saudi Arabian ownership and Szoboszlai has been linked for several weeks.

He’s had something of a falling out with those in charge at RB Leipzig after an unauthorised interview in his homeland in which he discussed his future and playing for clubs other than the Germans.

That naturally didn’t go down well at Leipzig who have since reprimanded the player and his agent for sanctioning the interview without their consent.

Plettenberg now reports that Szoboszlai ‘is very open’ to leaving this summer because of the interest from Newcastle.

He knows he’s a ‘top transfer target’ for the Magpies, although at the moment they would have to match his current €70m release clause if they were to get him this summer.

The journalist confirms that RB’s bosses are ‘not happy’ with his latest statements and that has seemingly led to a possible departure, with him claiming ‘it’s a question of the price’ at this point.

That hints there could be negotiations over his asking price between Newcastle and Leipzig, with this potential deal seemingly set to pick up pace in the coming weeks.
