Having spent big over the course of last summer, Arsenal decided to make more room for next season in January by allowing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Barcelona on a free.
A great run of form and a handy number of games in hand also means Mikel Arteta’s side could be in the top four sooner rather than later, which could also help them with their summer purchases if they manage to qualify for the Champions League.
Among the players the Gunners are reportedly targeting is said to be Renato Sanches, who is widely expected to leave Lille in the summer.
The Portugal international, much like Jonathan David, is believed to be living his final months in the north of France after a good few seasons there, and Jeunes Footeux claim Arsenal are ‘attentively following’ his performances this season.
Arteta is said to ‘really appreciate’ Sanches’ powerful and technical profile, with the 24-year-old even said to be ‘considered like one of the priorities’ of the Spanish manager.
As for how much the former Bayern Munich man would cost, the fact he only has one year left on his deal at Lille means their demands will be somewhat restricted, and Jeunes Footeux believe ‘an offer of €20m should be enough’ to convince the Ligue 1 side.
That’s very cheap for a player of Sanches’ calibre and potential, and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal decide to join the summer auction for his services.
