Whilst most leagues in Europe are midway through the season, with, including in England, in the middle of their busiest period of the year, elsewhere it’s vacation time.
Norway is one of the countries currently in the close season, with the calendar different due to the colder climate and impacts of that.
Fredrikstad FK finished sixth this year, and as they aim to consolidate and improve they’ve targeted a Sheffield United player.
Fotbollskanalen brings claims from close to the Norwegian club which state they’ve identified Sheffield United’s Ismaila Coulibaly and would be working to take him from the English club.
Coulibaly wasn’t registered for Championship football this season so obviously hasn’t had a big part to play for Sheffield United. According to the report he has a contract with them lasting until June 2025 and there’s no indication of a transfer fee.
That may suggest Fredrikstad FK would be looking to get him on a free transfer.
The Norwegian season is set to start again in March.
