Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari brings some news today on the future of former Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
Following the end of the 32-year-old’s contract with the Gunners, it’s said the player now has offers from Greece, Spain and Italy.
Serie A side Genoa seem to be the strongest club in the race, as they’d like to have Sokratis back at the club following his spell there between 2010 and 2012.
The links with Genoa had already been reported before the defender sorted his departure from Arsenal, so now there’s a much more positive scenario for the Italian side to get the signing.
Sokratis joined Arsenal on a €16m move from Borussia Dortmund back in the summer 2018, and left the Gunners with 69 appearances for them.
The defender hadn’t been used by Mikel Arteta this season, and that’s why he and the club mutually agreed the end of his contract so he could easily find a new club to play for.
