On Monday, Germany’s Kicker reported there are still four clubs in the running to sign David Alaba. Those clubs were named as Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG and Chelsea.
For Barcelona, the finances of a deal were deemed too difficult, and similar was said for PSG. Over at Chelsea it was stated the Bayern Munich defender isn’t a priority, so all the transfer signs pointed towards Real Madrid.
Tuesday’s edition of Sport states Alaba has ‘offered himself’ to Barcelona on several occasions. His agent Pini Zahavi and his father have visited the Catalan city on repeat occasions, trying to build a deal.
Zahavi even held talks with Joan Laporta during the presidential campaign. Whilst Barcelona rate the player, he’s not a priority right now… partly because of the money he’s looking for.
The signing isn’t ruled out, however, Alaba, who will be a free agent in the summer, would have to reduce his demands dramatically, and Barcelona would first need to get other business done.
