Ange Postecoglou may have underestimated Eric Dier’s abilities, with him now impressing for Bayern Munich and proving the doubters wrong.
That’s according to Illertisser Zeitung, who cover the player today and how he was underestimated by everyone, including the Tottenham manager.
The newspaper explains that in a disappointing season for Bayern Munich, Dier, who arrived on a free in the January transfer window, can be considered one of the few winners.
He arrived after being binned off by Postecoglou, who considered him a ‘discontinued model’ and no longer a part of his plans moving forwards.
Instead, he’s gone to Germany and become an undisputed regular, recently keeping Kai Havertz quiet in the Champions League.
The player himself has spoken about his own performances and how he thinks he should be in England’s squad for Euro 2024. The newspaper don’t go as far as to say the same, but they do say he’s ‘found happiness’ in Munich.
He was very much ‘underestimated’ by everyone at Tottenham, including Postecoglou, and is now shining and proving those doubters very wrong away from them.
Whether anyone at Spurs will care is another question entirely but it’s a positive for him either way.
