Friday’s edition of Record reports Nuno Tavares had a medical in Lisbon on Thursday, ahead of completing his move to Arsenal.
The Portuguese newspaper explains the fullback had his ‘medical and physical’ tests before the leaving the country, because it will work better for all involved when it comes to Covid-19 precautions.
Tavares will have to quarantine when he arrives in England, and the idea is that once out of that he’ll be able to take part in Arsenal training.
Had he waited then the medical could only have been performed once that quarantine had ended. Doing it in Lisbon has escaped a period of uncertainty for everyone involved in the deal.
Record say Tavares was scheduled to travel to London on Thursday, however, a late decision was made to have the medical in Portugal.
Now it’s expected he’ll travel today, unless anything happens to prevent that.
Benfica will receive €8m for the player, plus a further €2m in bonus payments.
