After having his contract terminated this week by Nottingham Forest, it was immediately announced Serbian goalkeeper Vladimir Stojković would be joining Partizan Belgrade.
The 34-year-old, who has played 73 games for the Serbian national team, lost his place in the Nottingham Forest side in February, and his exit came as no surprise.
Partizan Belgrade coach Miroslav Đukić was in a desperate need to find a quality goalkeeper, and the Serbian club didn’t hesitate to sign the player.
Serbian website Mozzart Sport report on comments the former Nottingham Forest player made on leaving the City Ground: “I’m always the first who complains if something does not work in the way it should work. However, I hope everything will function here. I am pleased to return into a club where everybody wanted me.”
He added: “It is very important to feel as a member of family. I will try to repay them with my performances on the pitch. I saw reactions on social media and I know what I expect ahead of me.”
Also, Stojković claimed he had no other offers upon leaving Nottingham Forest, including no serious interest from abroad. “No, there were not any other options. Since I have found out about Partizan’s interest, I wanted to come here.”
Stojković spent just one season with Nottingham Forest, making 20 Championship appearances for the club, before losing his place in the team. The player also had a spell in England with Wigan Athletic.
