This may not just be our Don Balon of the Day, it could be the Don Balon of the Year given its craziness and sheer Don Balonness.

The Spanish website claims Mohamed Salah is ‘closer than ever’ to a Spanish move, and has told Liverpool he’s considering joining Real Madrid or Barcelona.

That’s all fairly standard Don Balon stuff which is claimed several times a week, but it’s the reasoning that elevates this one. Salah is ‘not happy at all’ that Nabil Fekir’s move from Lyon to Liverpool has fallen apart.

He’s so upset that between Lyon announcing the move is off and Don Balon writing their article, Salah has decided he wants out, told Liverpool so, and put forward an ultimatum.

The Egyptian will only consider staying if Liverpool seriously strengthen their midfield, and if not he wants the club to ‘accept any proposal which comes from Spanish football’, although Don Balon then narrow that down to Real Madrid or Liverpool.

A wonderful piece of transfer imagination. Complete nonsense, but a different slant on the usual.
