Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann picked up an injury during the game against Sheffield United at the weekend.
The 30-year-old Austrian is expected to be out of action for some months and this has put the goalkeeper situation at Vicarage Road in uncertainty.
It now seems as if Watford are ready to dip into the market to replace Bachmann, who has played 22 times in the Championship this season and has also captained the side multiple times.
Gianluca di Marzio has reported that Tom Cleverley’s side are interested in Venezia goalkeeper Jesse Joronen, who has now emerged as a transfer target for the Hornets this month. Sampdoria, who are currently in Serie B, are also interested in the Finland international.
The 31-year-old has played seven times in Serie A this season and those appearances came early in the campaign. Moving to Watford can hand him more game time, and he has previously had a stint at Fulham so that may help.
He also has the experience of playing in League Two and the Championship and that can come in handy for the Premier League-chasing Hornets.
