German side Stuttgart are keen to keep Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos next season but will only be able to secure another loan deal.
That’s according to BILD, who say the defender’s refusal to give up on his Arsenal career means a permanent move is out of the question.
Mavropanos has been on loan with the Bundesliga club since the summer, moving in search of first-team football when it was made clear he was not a part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.
After a disappointing first half of the campaign, he’s now ‘been doing top performances’ for several weeks and is becoming ‘more and more important’ at the club.
However, BILD state that ‘Mavropanos should stay’, explaining that an extension of the loan deal is ‘conceivable’ at this moment in time.
According to their information, the defender ‘does not want to terminate’ his Arsenal contract, which runs until 2023, and so Stuttgart can’t get him on a permanent deal.
Thus, they will look at an extension to the loan instead, something the defender would probably be open to as he is ‘feeling more and more at home’ at the club.
The decision is much his and Arsenal’s to make, as was reported in Germany not long ago, with Stuttgart clearly to keen to have him in any way they can.
